New Delhi (India): The 2020 edition of Indian Premier League is finally set to begin from September 19. The IPL 2020 which has already been confirmed to take place in UAE is likely to begin in the third week of September as per our sources.

One of the sources at BCCI has also confirmed that since the postponement of The T20 World Cup and Asia Cup, there is a window from September 19 to November 10 which the board wants to avail. Confirming the informal internal discussions about the possible dates, the source confirmed that the final decision will only be taken in the IPL governing council meeting.

The T20 tournament was earlier postponed in April due to COVID-19 pandemic. The number of cases were continuously on the rise before the complete lockdown across India in April. BCCI now has decided to host the IPL in UAE under bio-secure environment.

In addition to the start date, we have also confirmed that IPL matches will start at 7.30 pm IST in UAE as opposed to 8pm last year. The tournament will be 44 days long with around 70 matches including playoffs and the finals.

The IPL is now being shifted to UAE but final confirmation will only be announced once the BCCI gets the government permission and finalize hosting deals with the UAE authorities.
