IPL 13 has been officially confirmed to be hosted in UAE this year as the Indian government has given a green signal to IPL. The tournament is scheduled to start on 19th September.  The date of the final has been pushed further to 10th November (earlier 8th November) and for the first time in IPL history, we will see the finals on Tuesday (usually Sundays).

One of the biggest announcement is the start time of play. The matches which usually start at 8 pm previously will now start at 7:30 pm and end by 11. This will benefit the broadcasters in displaying their advertisements before 11 am as AD rates fall down after 11 am.

Title sponsor Vivo and other sponsors are intact and therefore will continue  throughout the tournament.

COVID-19 substitutes by ICC are also allowed during IPL. The 240 pages SOP’s have been handed over to the Logistic firms and they will take care of protocols.

Teams will start to travel UAE only from 26th August, therefore BCCI can also plan a small training camp in Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad for the Indian contracted players.

All players both Indian and overseas will travel via charted flights and not commercial flights. The BCCI has asked the franchises to proceed with the visa formalities. We have been asked to start our visa process,” the official said

“The BCCI is also optimistic of getting the complete go-ahead from the government in the coming week to move the tournament to UAE. The BCCI has received clearance from the Sports Ministry and we are hopeful of a positive response from the other departments quite soon as well,” the official added.  The full schedule is yet to be announced.
