The Indian Cricket Board has received written permission to conduct the IPL in UAE; hence the franchises are preparing to fly to the emirate. Recently, Rajasthan Royals fielding coach Dishant Yagnik has tested COVID-19 positive. Rajasthan Royals informed this on Wednesday.
The Rajasthan Royals cricketers will catch a flight from Mumbai to Dubai next week. Rajasthan Royals tweeted – “Our fielding coach @Dishantyagnik77 has tested positive for COVID-19 in an extra round of testing done by the franchise. All other franchise members have tested negative to date.” Along with Rajasthan Royals, Dishant himself tweeted that he is affected by Corona.
He tweeted – “Hi all, I hv tested COVID +. Pls get tested if you hv been in contact with me in the last 10 days. In line wd BCCI protocols I will be now quarantining for 14 days. I will then need 2 ngtv tests b4 joining the team @rajasthanroyals in UAE. Thx 4 yr blessings & good wishes!”
Dishant has also requested those who have come in contact with him in the last ten days to test for the novel coronavirus. According to the board’s protocols, Dishant will now have to stay in quarantine for 14 days.
According to the SOP’s, the result of the corona test must be negative twice, or else there is no access to the camp. Therefore the results of Dishant Yagnik have to be negative twice before joining the Rajasthan Royals camp in Dubai.
Rajasthan wicketkeeper-batsman Dishant also used to play for the Rajasthan Royals previously as a wicket-keeper batsman. Now he is the fielding coach of the franchise.
The good thing is that no member (player or support staff) of the Rajasthan Royals team was in contact with him for the past ten days. The tournament is yet to start and very early on, we have seen a COVID-19 positive member. This news can psychologically impact the mindset of the players.
