Cricket matches have been hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak. International cricket matches have not been played in India since March. The IPL tournament, which was scheduled to take place in April-May, is currently being held in the United Arab Emirates.
India is currently experiencing an increase in the number of people infected by the coronavirus. If the vaccine is not found, it may take months for India to return normalcy.
India has secured the right to host next year’s ICC T20 World Cup. It has been reported that the United Arab Emirates or Sri Lanka will be the alternative venue if India is unable to host the tournament.
The England team is set to arrive in India early next year to play in a five-match Test cricket series. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has expressed interest that they are ready to host the series if the coronavirus outbreak in India does not make it to the tournament.

The England team had gone to Sri Lanka last March to play in a two-match Test series, but the England series was canceled due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus and returned home immediately. This Test series is set to take place once again next year. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board believes that England can then stay in Sri Lanka and play in the five-match Test series against India.
“The possibility of England staying back after their two Tests in Sri Lanka to complete the series against India has been given some thought after SLC came up with the suggestion,” the report said. But a senior BCCI official said the Indian team had no such intention. He added that no such recommendation had been received from Sri Lanka.
