Women’s T20 Challenge to start from November 1 in UAE

The big news coming ahead of the IPL Governing Council meeting on Sunday was Indian Cricket Control Board President Sourav Ganguly believes that this time the women’s IPL will also be held in the UAE. The tournament will also be played between the four teams from November 1 to November 10, as last time, before the Indian team had to withdraw from the tri-series in England.

“I can confirm to you that the women’s IPL is very much on and we do have a plan in place for the national team also” – Ganguly told in an interview to PTI.

Australian players might miss the Women’s T20 challenge because they will have the Women’s Big Bash League for October 17 to November 29. The tournament is likely to be played mostly with Indian and Asian players.

BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly said on Sunday that during the IPL to be held in the UAE in September, there will be a women’s T20 League or Challenger Series. The Women’s T20 Challenge was first played in 2018. The only match played then was the Supernovas beating the Trail Blazers. Velocity was entered as the third team in 2019. Ganguly clarified that the women’s IPL will also be fitted in the schedule of the Men’s T20 League.

The former Indian captain will also organize a camp for women players included in the BCCI Central Contract List. While Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy is closed due to Corona. He also added that “ We couldn’t have exposed any of our cricketers — be it male or female to health risk. It would have been dangerous”
