In latest update, the Asian Cricket Council has decided that the Asia Cup 2022 will be held between August 27 and September 11 hosted by Sri Lanka. The news comes with great excitement for fans in the sub-continent who saw the event postponed twice during previous years.
The tournament will be played in the T20 format with the qualifiers set to begin on August 20. Sri Lanka was originally supposed to host the tournament in 2020 before it was postponed twice due to the pandemic. They retained their rights to host the 2022 edition, with Pakistan in line to host the 2023 edition of the tournament.
The decision was taken in the Annual General Meeting of the ACC at Colombo on Saturday today alongside the decision to extend the tenure of Shah and its Executive Board and committees until the next AGM in 2024.
